Mary Vanalstine

Mary VanAlstine, MA, LPCC

Mary VanAlstine (she/they) is a Master’s level therapist working towards her LPCC licensure. She comes to Oak Ridge Center with over 5 years experience with adolescents, experience with children, and a Master’s degree from the University of Saint Thomas in Professional Psychology. She has a strong interest in mindfulness practices and the expressive arts but also has experience working in Behaviorism and DBT. This means that as a practitioner Mary can move easily between approaches that build a stronger mind-body connection, and into approaches that create behavior change in a positive way. Mary is always pursuing more research based practices to incorporate in her therapy.

She has experience working with people with emerging personality disorders, complex trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, suicidal ideation and self injurious behavior, gender and sexuality challenges, and family conflict. She works from a strong multicultural lens and places an emphasis on a biopsychosocial conceptualization of individuals. She is ready to help individuals of all ages including children ages five and up, couples, families, and individuals. Mary desires to see every individual develop a strong relationship with themselves first of all. Working with the client to identify goals and barriers, Mary will strive to be a partner and a resource for the client to create change toward their most satisfying life. Sees ages 10+
